Musgrave to Archer River

This section is the main access road to northern Cape York Peninsula. Riding is less enjoyable in that the road is generally busier. Traffic increases with quite a few road trains supplying Weipa. Tourists in 4wds are also common. The towns and roadhouses provide a feature and much sought after food and beer.

Crossing the Bamboo Range on the road from Musgrave to Coen. A reasonably testing climb but at least the climb is all sealed.

Short stretches of sealed road were a welcome break from the unrelenting corrugations on the Main North Road. These 5k sections have evidently been installed to allow vehicles to overtake road trains.

$Camping behind the Exchange Hotel in Coen. A lovely spot and better than the town\'s campground. It\'s worth asking at the pub if you can camp here.$
